After Twitter users reported about a bug which forced them to follow other users, the giant microblogging Twitter had made all its effort to fix the problem. Recently, Twitter has announced that the bug is now fixed, which means many victims' followers are reset to zero.
Twitter also claimed that protected updates were not compromised nor were publicly exposed as a result of the glitch.
The recent bug found in Twitter has successfully forced some famous celebrities such as Mark Zuckerberg or Ashton Kutcher to follow a bogus Twitter account. Besides that, due to the bug, many members were allowed to add on as many followers to their own accounts as they wanted by tweeting "accept" and then "@" followed by the Twitter user name of their choosing -- including those of high profile celebrities.

It is reported that the auto-follow bug could be just exploited on the Twitter Website, but not on third-party apps.
However, normal users were provided with instructions to know how to achieve celebrity-like followings.

Twitter also claimed that protected updates were not compromised nor were publicly exposed as a result of the glitch.
However, no one knows how long it takes the bug to allow users to create their own Twitter followings. Although up to now the bug is fixed, Twitter administrators still have to deal with a myriad of victims whose Twitter account followings are set back to zero.
Twitter users should notice that their follow count display is set to 0 and follow/unfollow is temporarily offline while the bug is fixed.
Some famous stars like Kutcher and Justin Bieber may think that their accounts are hacked when their millions of Twitter fans suddenly disappear due to the temporarily reset of Twitter followings.
